Atlanta City Councilman H. Lamar Willis is the Managing Partner of the Willis Law Group, LLC where he represents businesses and individuals. Since his election to the Atlanta City Council in 2001 to serve as the Post 3 At-Large Councilmember, H. Lamar is currently the youngest member of the legislative body of the City of Atlanta government. Willis is currently serving his second term on council, having been re-elected without opposition in 2005.
During his brief time on Council, he has served as Chair of the Council's Transportation Committee, which has oversight over Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, city transportation initiatives and MARTA related issues. In addition, H. Lamar has served as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, which has oversight for the majority of the City of Atlanta's General Fund. As Chair of the Public Safety, he championed efforts to assist the Police, Fire, and Corrections Departments in securing legislation that would both strengthen their departments and ensure they had the tools needed to further improve public safety efforts in the City of Atlanta.
Councilman Willis currently serves on the Community Development and Human Resources Committee, the Public Safety Committee, and the Transportation Committee. Councilman Willis has developed forward thinking legislative initiatives to increase the quality of life for all Atlantans.

In 2007, H. Lamar authored legislation to create the Citizen Review Board to allow citizens more input into police matters.
In 2004, H. Lamar authored legislation requiring a 30-day holding periods for all pawnbroker and precious metal dealer transactions to allow sufficient time for the police to track down stolen goods that may have gone through a pawnbroker.
In 2003, H. Lamar authored graffiti legislation which addresses illegal graphics in Atlanta's live and work spaces.
H. Lamar also proposed anti-panhandling legislation, which served as a framework for the current law and provides visitors to downtown as well as convention areas protection from aggressive panhandlers.
H. Lamar is a lifelong Atlanta resident. He graduated from Northside High School now North Atlanta High School and went on to graduate from Morehouse College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies with a concentration in Management. After Morehouse, H. Lamar earned a Master of Science degree from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University and a law degree from Boston College Law School.
It is his strong training and deep roots in the city that inspires H. Lamar to seek all means of creating a better Atlanta. H. Lamar is further involved in the Atlanta community through his participation with the following organizations:

H. Lamar and his wife of 14 years, Dr. Kamili Willis, are the proud parents of ten-year-old daughter, Kayla, and five-year old son, Henry. H. Lamar and his family have been active members of Cascade United Methodist Church for nearly thirty years.
